Training planes go through:
- Harder landings (students are still learning)
- More abrupt controls (sharp turns, mis-trim, over-correction)
- More takeoffs and landings per hour
- Constant use of the same parts (brakes, tires, flaps)
This causes:
- Faster wear and tear
- Higher maintenance costs
- More downtime for repairs
How this affects students
Because training aircraft break down more often:
- Students may lose flying time
- Training may be delayed
- Flying hours may not be completed on time
- Some students give up because of slow progress or extra costs
In extreme cases, if an aircraft is grounded a lot, students can’t get enough flight hours, so they don’t qualify for the licence.
