Training can be hard on the equipment

Training planes go through:

  • Harder landings (students are still learning)

  • More abrupt controls (sharp turns, mis-trim, over-correction)

  • More takeoffs and landings per hour

  • Constant use of the same parts (brakes, tires, flaps)

This causes:

  • Faster wear and tear

  • Higher maintenance costs

  • More downtime for repairs

 How this affects students

Because training aircraft break down more often:

  • Students may lose flying time

  • Training may be delayed

  • Flying hours may not be completed on time

  • Some students give up because of slow progress or extra costs

In extreme cases, if an aircraft is grounded a lot, students can’t get enough flight hours, so they don’t qualify for the licence.
